What it is
The bar appears at the bottom of the page with "Accept all", "Reject all" (the same size, as Brazil's data authority recommends) and "Customize" (necessary, statistics and marketing). Until the visitor accepts, the plugin holds Google Analytics, Tag Manager, the Meta Pixel, Clarity, Hotjar and TikTok, and tells Google and Meta about the choice through Consent Mode v2.
How to use it
- In the plugin menu, open Resources → Cookies and tick "Show the cookie notice on the site" (or answer "yes" in the wizard).
- Keep "Hold tracking codes until the visitor accepts" and "Tell Google and Meta about the choice (Consent Mode v2)" on.
- If your site uses another tracking code, paste part of its address in "Other codes to hold".
- So visitors can change their mind later, turn on the "Cookie preferences" link at the bottom of every page (or use the [ranking_suite_cookies] shortcode).
- Every choice is kept in "Consent records", with "Export to spreadsheet (CSV)". Records older than 12 months are deleted automatically.
Common problems
Google Ads conversions dropped after turning it on.
Visitors who reject are not measured, as the law requires. With Consent Mode on, Google models the conversions of those who rejected; check that Google Ads shows consent mode as active.
A code still runs before consent.
It is not on the known list. Paste part of its address in "Other codes to hold".
The bar doesn't show for me.
After you choose once, it doesn't come back. Open a private window or use the "Cookie preferences" link.
If something goes wrong
If something on the site stops working, untick "Hold tracking codes until the visitor accepts" or turn off Cookies under Resources → Overview.
