Emergency exit
Site or dashboard won't load: how to turn the plugin off without the dashboard.
What it is
If something goes wrong and even the WordPress dashboard won't open, you can turn Ranking Suite off through your host's file manager (or FTP), without losing your settings.
How to use it
- Attack filter blocking you: create an empty file named ranking-firewall-off inside the wp-content folder.
- Turn the whole plugin off: rename the folder wp-content/plugins/ranking-suite to ranking-suite-off. WordPress deactivates the plugin by itself.
- To bring it back, rename the folder to ranking-suite again and activate the plugin in the dashboard.
- Originals of the files the plugin changed (.htaccess, wp-config.php) are kept in wp-content/ranking-suite/, in a folder starting with "originais-".
Common problems
I renamed the folder and the site is still down.
Then the problem probably isn't the plugin. Compare your .htaccess with the copy saved in wp-content/ranking-suite/ and contact your host.
I need help.
Open a topic in the plugin's support forum on WordPress.org, including the system info ("Copy system info" button in the Health screen).
If something goes wrong
Uninstalling from the dashboard restores the original files and deletes everything the plugin created.
