Import from other tools

Bring your site from an All-in-One WP Migration, UpdraftPlus, Duplicator, WPvivid or BackWPup backup.

What it is

The import module reads backups made by other tools and restores the site with Ranking Suite. It opens the .wpress from All-in-One WP Migration, the UpdraftPlus set of files (database, plugins, themes, uploads…), the Duplicator .zip or .daf, the WPvivid backup (whole or in parts) and the BackWPup .zip, .tar or .tar.gz. Only the site content comes in (wp-content and database); the WordPress core and the other tools' installers never run. Those names belong to their owners; Ranking Suite is not affiliated with them.

How to use it

  1. Open Backup and Migration → Import.
  2. Choose the backup file and upload it. If the tool split the backup into several files (UpdraftPlus, WPvivid parts), choose or drag all of them at once.
  3. Check the name of the recognized tool, type this site's address and confirm.
  4. Check your site after the import and save permalinks (Settings → Permalinks → Save).

Common problems

The file is too big to upload through the browser.

Upload it with your host's file manager to the folder shown on screen, then pick it from the list.

The backup is password-protected.

Password-protected files aren't supported yet. Create a backup without a password in the original tool.

If something goes wrong

Import only replaces the site after checking the whole file. If the check fails, nothing changes.
