Coming soon and maintenance mode
A notice page instead of the site, without losing Google rankings.
What it is
With the mode on, visitors see a page with the site logo, a title, a message and, if you want, the expected date. "Coming soon" is for a site that is not launched yet: Google does not keep the page. "Maintenance" is for a site that is down for a short time: Google is told to come back later and the site keeps its rankings. Logged-in users who can edit the site keep seeing everything normally, with a red notice in the top bar.
How to use it
- In the plugin menu, open Resources → Coming soon / maintenance and turn on the switch (coming soon or maintenance page).
- Pick "Coming soon" or "Maintenance", write the title and the message (empty uses a ready text) and, optionally, the expected date.
- Save. To show the site to a client without sharing a password, copy the "Secret preview link": whoever opens it sees the real site for 12 hours.
- To remove the notice, turn the switch off and save. Cached pages are cleared automatically.
Common problems
I turned the mode off and still see the notice.
If your host has its own cache (LiteSpeed, Hostinger, SiteGround and others), clear it in the hosting panel. The Ranking Suite cache is cleared automatically.
The preview link stopped working.
It lasts 12 hours per device. If you ticked "Create a new link", the old one no longer works: send the new one.
If something goes wrong
If you are locked out, log in at /wp-login.php (the login page is never blocked) and turn the mode off. As a last resort, create the empty file wp-content/ranking-suite-off via FTP: every module stops right away.
